That means, in some cases, a celebrity won’t (or can’t) turn around and offer sincere or meaningful solutions to a bad situation. They can’t care about fans the way that these fans may need them to. So, when your fandom object fails fans as hard as Scott has done, where does that leave the people in the fandom? At the end of the day, fans don’t know these celebrities and they really don’t know their fans. Is his focus on the fans, or his career? The fact that these two appear to stand in opposition to each other is telling. Usually, when celebrities fail their fans, it’s something related to their personal lives. Further, it’s hard not to see this move as totally inadequate - how could a month of text-based therapy truly help anyone deal with the trauma of being in that crowd, surviving the crowd surge, or seeing people get injured or even killed in front of them?
